We take pride in ensuring our materials are ethically sourced and our products are manufactured under responsible conditions.
Unlike fur, down serves a functional purpose that cannot be replicated by the use of synthetic alternatives. Luckily, down feathers can be ethically sourced. Our down meets the Responsible Down Standard, which means 100% of our down comes from geese that were treated humanely and sourced from fully traceable supply chains. Our suppliers abide by the Five Freedoms:
Freedom from Hunger and Thirst by supplying ready access to freshwater and a diet that maintains full health and vigor.
Freedom from Discomfort by providing an appropriate environment, including shelter and a comfortable resting area.
Freedom from Pain, Injury or Disease by prevention or rapid diagnosis and subsequent treatment.
Freedom to Express Normal Behavior by providing sufficient space, proper facilities, and company of the animal's own kind.
Freedom from Fear and Distress by ensuring that the conditions and treatment prevent mental suffering.
Why Faux Fur?
Despite what some may claim, there is no way to ethically source the furs used in outerwear. For 99% of parka wearers, fur only serves a fashionable purpose, as real fur is only required in arctic conditions. So, if you’re climbing Mt. Everest, this may not be the jacket for you. For everyone else, we’ve created a warm, great-looking coat you don’t have to feel guilty wearing.
